Faro's best sunset from a rooftop most tourists miss. Wine is five euros, the Ria Formosa stretches out in front of you, and nobody tries to upsell you. Arrive at 6, leave when the lights come on.
Faro is the most underrated town in the Algarve. It has an old quarter that holds its own against anything in Lagos, a lagoon out front that turns gold every evening, and a fraction of the tourist load. LAB Terrace sits on top of all of that.
It's a rooftop. The seats face west over the Ria Formosa. A glass of decent white wine is five euros. The staff are quick, friendly, and don't try to upsell you. The crowd is half locals, half travellers who know.
I've watched the sunset here a dozen times and the only thing I've ever wished for is bar snacks. They don't really do them. Eat before, drink here, eat after.
The view is partially crossed by overhead train lines. Yes, it's slightly annoying. No, it doesn't ruin anything. After thirty seconds your eyes register the lagoon, the birds, the boats — and the lines stop existing.
The other thing: it closes early. By Faro standards, painfully early. 7:30 to 8pm depending on the season. This is a sunset bar, not a night bar. Plan accordingly.
Walk from Faro old town: ten minutes. Walk from the marina: five. Don't drive — parking nearby is limited. Arrive 30 minutes before sunset to get a west-facing seat. In summer, 45 minutes.
