Perched on the cliff above Praia da Rocha beach, Outro Bar is the bar most people end up at when they come to Portimão. Open-air terrace with an unobstructed Atlantic view, tropical cocktails, no entrance fee, open until 4am. Imperfect in the ways that popular beach bars always are — but the setting earns it repeated visits.
The view is the thing. Outro Bar sits right on the cliff edge above Praia da Rocha — one of the most photogenic beaches in the western Algarve — and the open-air terrace means you're drinking with the beach below you and the Atlantic rolling out to the horizon. At sunset this is genuinely spectacular.
There's no entrance fee and no minimum spend, which in a sea of Algarve bars that charge €5 to walk through the door is a meaningful point in its favour. Arrive, find a terrace spot, order. The tropical cocktail menu — caipirinhas, morangoskas, mangoskas, rum punches — is built for the setting rather than complexity, and it works.
The open-air layout and the DJ from late evening create an atmosphere that's somewhere between a bar and a low-key club. If you want to keep drinking past midnight on the Algarve without relocating to a nightclub, Outro Bar is one of very few options that manages the transition well.
The 4.2 rating covers a wide range of experiences. In peak July–August, getting a table with the good view requires arriving before 7pm. Service slows as it fills. The cocktails are consistent rather than inventive — perfectly adequate, not worth a special trip on their own.
In peak season the music gets louder as the night progresses. If you want a conversation-volume bar for the whole evening, go earlier or choose Mandala Lounge instead. After 11pm on weekends, Outro Bar is unambiguously a party bar.
The terrace is exposed. On windy evenings, the covered areas fill quickly.
Praia da Rocha is 3km south of Portimão city centre. Take the road or the lift down from the town. Outro Bar is on Rua António Feu on the cliff-top level above the beach — the strip runs along the top of the cliffs and the bar is easy to find once you're on it. There's parking above the cliff line.
