On the seafront at Cabanas de Tavira with Ria Formosa lagoon views — a completely different landscape from the ocean-facing western Algarve. DJ nights Friday and Saturday. More local than tourist, which at this point in the Algarve is a meaningful distinction.
On the rooftop of the Tivoli Carvoeiro hotel above the cliffs. Open to non-hotel guests, panoramic Atlantic views, premium cocktails. The most elevated beach bar experience on this list — literally and in terms of price. Seasonal: check before visiting outside April–October.
On the cliff-top avenue at Praia da Rocha with ocean views facing west into the sunset. Creative cocktails, shisha, and a food menu good enough to build an afternoon around. The most relaxed option on the Portimão strip — less party, more lounge.

Praia da Rocha in Portimão has the longest cliff-top strip — a run of open-air terraces along Avenida Tomás Cabreira, all facing west into the sunset. Outro Bar is the dramatic late-night option; Mandala Lounge is the relaxed sunset-and-shisha spot. This is the beach-bar strip to pick if you want choice.
The east Algarve trades ocean cliffs for the calm Ria Formosa lagoon. Quasi Bar on the Cabanas de Tavira seafront is quieter, more local and a genuine change of scenery from the western resorts. Part of the wider Tavira bars scene.
