Primarily a craft cocktail bar, but Cocktail Garden stocks a thoughtful Portuguese wine selection that fits the serious-drinks ethos of the place. If you're spending an evening at the garden and want to switch from cocktails to wine, you won't be disappointed. The same care that goes into the cocktail list extends to the bottles.
The Algarve DOC covers four sub-regions — Lagos, Portimão, Lagoa and Tavira. Regional producers like Quinta dos Vales, Arade and Quinta do Barranco Longo appear on good lists and are genuinely worth trying: they're produced in the same landscape you're drinking in, often at lower prices than Alentejo or Douro bottles on the same menu.
Staff knowledge is the quickest filter. Ask what's open by the glass and whether they can tell you anything about it. A good wine bar will give you an answer. Most tourist-facing bars will point at the laminated list.
